Timeline
Playback controls, effect timing bars, and one-shot vs continuous modes
This page covers the timeline at the bottom of the editor: playback, per-effect timing, and scrubbing.
Playback controls
- Play / pause —
Spaceor the play button. If the playhead is at the end,Spacerestarts from the beginning. - Jump to start / end —
HomeandEnd(both pause playback), or the skip buttons. - Duration — sets the loop length in seconds (default 10).
Effect bars
Each effect gets a colored bar showing when it is active during the loop.
Set the range
Drag a bar's start and end handles to change when the effect runs. By default an effect spans the whole loop.
Fine-tune with the keyboard
Focus a handle (click or Tab to it), then nudge it with ← and →.
Choose a mode
Set the effect to Continuous or One-shot in its controls.
Effect modes
- Continuous — the effect loops for as long as its bar is active.
- One-shot — the effect plays once from the start of its bar and stops.
One-shot suits reveal effects
Typewriter and Decode reveal the ASCII text over time. In one-shot mode they finish and hold, instead of restarting every loop.
Scrubbing
Click anywhere on the timeline ruler to jump to that time. Drag while paused to scrub frame by frame. Scrubbing is stable: effects are re-simulated deterministically from the scene seed, so the frame at a given time is always the same.
